  • The Capitol Hill publication "CongressDaily" reported today that six Republican Senators have co-signed a letter to Senator Majority Leader Bill Frist and Senate Budget Committee Chair Don Nickles stating their opposition to any budget resolution or rider that would open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling.
     
  • Anti-Wilderness Rider Aimed at Alaska's Tongass National Forest Approved

  • In January 2003, Alaska Senator Ted Stevens tacked an amendment onto the Senate version of the Omnibus FY 2003 Appropriations bill.
     
  • Poll Shows Bush Administration Out of Step With Protecting Wilderness

  • More than 6 in 10 Americans don't believe enough wilderness has been permanently protected for future generations, according to polling conducted by Zogby International released on January 23 2003.
     
  • Activists Head to DC to Promote the National Landscape Conservation System

  • Conservationists and activists across the country have joined together to form a broad coalition of organizations to advocate for the continued protection of the National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS).
