  • A January 7, 2003 article in the "Missoulian" reported that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Forest Service may not expand motorized trails in existing wilderness study areas in Montana and ordered that a trial be held on the matter.
     
  • New TV Ad for Wild Sky Wilderness Campaign

  • The Wild Washington Campaign, a statewide alliance of conservation and recreation groups, released a 30-second TV spot that showcases the natural beauty of the Wild Sky wilderness and urges quick action by Congress to protect it.
     
  • Summary of Wilderness Legislation Passed in 2002

  • Congress approved a total of four bills adding more than a half a million acres of public land to the National Wilderness Preservation System.

  • Writers on the Range, a service of High Country News, distributed this article by Michael Carroll.
     
  • Arizona Conservationist Mike Seidman Passes Away

  • Mike Seidman passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on December 31, 2002; he spent over 30 years of his life advocating for the protection of wildlife and the habitat they depend upon in the arid Southwest and Northern Mexico.
